For every competitive surfer, their bread and butter in terms of equipment is the standard high performance shortboard. Every professional will have their boards dialed in and shaped to their specific requirements. They don’t tend to deviate from a high performance board too often as that is what they need to work their job.
That is the case for Gold Coast surfer Sheldon Simkus who regularly competes on the QS and CS. However, there’s the rare occasion for Sheldon where he can try something different.
In his latest YouTube edit Sheldon is given a Greg Webber shape with ‘one of the most unique concaves’ he has ever seen on a board. It’s believed the board used to be owned by Kelly Slater who is no stranger to experimenting with alternative equipment.
The video features Sheldon testing it on many of the right points around his home and he looks just as comfortable on the Webber as he does his regular DHD’s which also feature in the clip for comparison.
