One of Indonesia’s gems awoke last weekend and provided pumping, but manageable, right hand tubes for the lucky crowd which was moderate in numbers.
The long period west swell which hit Nias in Lagundri Bay was complimented with almost no wind, providing surfers with crystal blue cylinders to thread.
We are used to seeing clips of Nias in the 10ft plus region as the wave can handle a lot of size. This usually means that the steep ledged take off into freight train tube is reserved only for the higher caliber of surfer.
However, in Surf Raw Files’ new clip it looks like there was a handful of more accessible opportunities for those slightly further down the pecking order. There was still plenty bombs for the top dogs who chose to play the waiting game.
As Indonesia begins to enter prime dry season, we can hope to see more action like this from the small Island off of Sumatra.
