Indonesia’s premier barrel shootout could run as early as this afternoon, as event organisers have upgraded the Rip Curl Pro Padang Padang Cup to ‘Standby’ status with possible 3pm start (local time). The anticipated SW swell is expected to fill in throughout the day which could see 8-12 foot sets greet competitors in Round 1.
Round 1 is a non-elimination round with surfer heat totals from Rounds 1 & 2 combined to determine who advances to the semi-finals.
16 of the best tube riders in the world have already warmed during an Expression Session earlier this week, including defending champion Mega Semadhi, Clay Marzo, Bruce Irons, Ozzie Wright, Rizal Tanjung, and two-time event champion Lee Wilson.
Watch the event live on both the WSL‘s and Rip Curl‘s website.
