It was business as usual for Laura Enever today, working her part-time job as a WSL analyst at the Pipeline Pro. The former CT surfer brought the chilled vibes to the broadcast like she always does and wasn’t acting like she might have made surfing history with her big-wave ride last week.
Laura’s mighty paddle-in effort went down at an outer reef on the North Shore while the Eddie was going down around the corner at Waimea.
Laura was actually an alternative for the 10th Eddie, however, missing out on the big-wave event ultimately worked in Enever’s favour, opening the door to the “biggest wave of her life”.
A bunch of the most respected big-wave surfers, such as Shane Dorian, Justine Dupont and Nic Von-Rupp, paid their respects in the comments section. Meanwhile, Grant ‘Twiggy’ Baker threw out a bold claim, “that’s a new world record @wsl. “
These world records can take a while to confirm as the measuring process needs to be bulletproof to legitimise a claim. But what do you guys think? Was it bigger than the current world record of Andrea’s Moller 42-foot paddle-in ride back in 2016? It’s pretty darn close.
