While Supertubos didn’t reach the heights its name suggests it is possible of reaching during the recent WSL contest, the waves were still fun and it made for an entertaining spectactle.

However, if you’ve tuned into the Atlantic this winter, you’ll be aware that the waves on display during the MEO Portugal Pro were only a fraction of what the Portuguese beach break and that stretch of coast is capable of producing.

Those capabilities are evident in a recent Youtube clip titled ‘Tubos Dagua – Water Tubes’ which features a number of sessions at Supertubos prior to the WSL event, as well as footage from this year’s Capitulo Perfeito which took place in pumping pits a little further down the coast at Carcavelos.

The video includes surfing from big names such as Rob Machado, Balaram Stack, Nathan Hedge and more.
