For most of SE Queensland and Northern NSW, this week's wild weather has been nothing short of a nightmare. Flooding, people cut off from essential services due to closed roads, metres and metres of sand ripped from beaches up and down the coast. In Byron Bay, the erosion is so bad the entire beachfront has essentially been destroyed, and structures exposed that have not been seen in over 30 years.

However, there was a couple of places where the sand seemed to hang in there and even delivered some pretty nice waves amongst the mayhem. In this clip, we see some pretty tasty pipes at Spot X and Kirra on the Gold Coast, and a few waves at Noosa, where Harrison Roach ends the clip with the best tube of the entire edit.
