Patagonia’s new short film titled “Kin” is a cinematic experience featuring the beautiful scenery of Australia’s World-Heritage-listed Lord Howe Island.
Directed by Lauren L. Hill and Andrew Buckley, the video features Dave Rastovich and his family as they explore what nature has to offer on the Island – which sits in the Tasman Sea between Australia and New Zealand, and is heavily protected against development in order to help preserve its eco-systems.
The Island only welcomes 400 visitors at any one time and is a two-hour flight from Australia’s east coast.
The narrative of the film is a message to all that we each have a duty of care to the ocean and reminds everyone that the choices we make today will impact future generations down the line.
Lauren said: “We’re all sea creatures on earth’s largest island, dependent on a living ocean. As a family, the ocean is where we play, connect, and are humbled by our smallness. But protecting Australia’s ocean is about so much more than just here and now. It’s about safeguarding marine sanctuaries that will impact generations to come – securing a future that is not only habitable but thriving.”
