Love-em or hate-em, the mid-length surfboard has enjoyed a meteoric rise to fame over the last couple of years, and with good reason, they’re damn fun to ride!

Channel Islands recently unveiled their new model that dabbles in that space, the CI Mid. It’s an egg-inspired mid-length that took inspiration from a multitude of sources, including a board made by Britt’s father Al Merrick in the 70s named the Huevo Cliente. WSL Longboard commissioner, and all-round longer board aficionado Devon Howard also contributed to the design.

"At Channel Islands, everything we do is performance oriented,” explains Britt. "We’re not satisfied with just making boards that go straight and fast. We want speed, flow and glide in that feeling we’re all after—but you've got to be able to do the turns that you want to, and you've got to be able to do your best surfing. So that’s the philosophy that we took into our CI Mid project.”
