While the CT schedule does not change drastically every year, the WSL is not shy of throwing in a few curveballs and 2024’s left of field decision was to remove J-Bay from the tour.
The iconic right-hand point of Supertubes at Jeffreys Bay has been a staple on tour for a number of years and is undeniably one of the best waves to have been on the CT as its long walls offer multiple sections for the world’s best to lay down rail and rack up some tube time.
However, the WSL has announced that it will return to J-Bay from 14 – 23 June by hosting the “WSL J-Bay Classic” where surfers will compete using both high-performance and alternative equipment. There will also be both an individual and a mixed teams division.
The event window sits in between the waiting periods for the Surf City El Salvador Pro and the VIVO Rio Pro, which provides small hope that we could see some CT names at the event.
While the WSL is yet to release the full details on the format and invitees to the event, we can expect more information to drop in the coming months.
