The second instalment of The Big Top Diaries – All That Glitters |
Words and Photos by Ben Bugden
After delivering a promising start to the competition window, huey has decided to pack his bags and abandon the Gold Coast. With fresh onshores blowing and one-foot mush dribbling into the beaches, competition has ground to a halt and organisers are left to chew on already worn fingernails. With temps pushing 35 degrees and a carpet of bluebottles covering the ocean, even a quick D-bah grovel or a swim to cool off isn’t an option. However, there is hope on the horizon. The charts are showing that Wednesday will see a southerly change and a subsequent bump in southerly swell of up to two metres. We’re not sure if the comp will run on this swell, but it will at least give everyone the chance to get wet and rid themselves of cabin fever. The real hope for the contest lies from Friday onwards with a solid southerly swell expected to start showing on Saturday and roll through till Monday at least. Until then, please enjoy this selection of images snapped over the last few days.
