Nine-year-old grommet takes us on a Hawaiian adventure most kids (and adults) can only dream about. |
NTRO: Like most surf obsessed grommets Kyuss King lives to ride waves. When told he was going to Hawaii for a holiday Kyuss took it upon himself commit to writing a blog each day he was away. It was a big deal going to Hawaii you see – not just because of his young age – but because he was staying with 1988 world champion Barton Lynch. So from base camp at BL’s house (nestled behind Sunset Beach) join us daily as Kyuss takes us on a fun filled Hawaiian adventure most kids (and adults) can only dream about.
Note for Parents: This is a grommet specific 10 part summer holiday special with totally kid safe content.

DAY 3 – Velzyland rules!
I woke up early… jet lag is over.
I got dad up and we rode straight down to Velzeland to check the waves. It looked insane fun… 3 foot rights, pealing on a shallow reef with fun walls and tube sections. We bolted back, I rode my new Howie [Luke Howarth] 4′ 11″ and had the best waves ever. Got my first barrel in Hawaii, the locals were really cool and friendly, we surfed for hours…
Breaky and then a ride down to check Pipeline… Then back for pastries at the Sunset beach store. That store is right near our place and has epic food! Plate lunch bra! There were wild chickens and dogs cruising around… Me and Ras chased chickens in between eating.
Me, Dad, Mum, Rasmus all went back to Velzey for a late surf, It was still so fun!!! real low tide, super shallow and real sucky… I got my second barrel of the trip. School was out on the North Shore so there were a few kids out there and I got to meet a few, Coco Ho was out there… it was cool to see other groms surf. They were ripping…
I had the best day of my life… Hawaii rocks..
“Dreaming of V-land magic… Rasmus dreaming of 1 foot pipe.”
