Mason’s Indo sabbatical continues and Desert’s is a proper pit spot for The Search. There’s no luxury at this remote Indo surf spot. The crew lived in a hut and slept on mattresses. But that wasn’t an issue as they were camped right in front of the magical left point.
There were no distractions or big nights to be had at the Komune or the Single Fin. The focus was entirely on the waves. Truly getting back to the roots of what surf travel is all about.
As high as Mason’s energy level seems to be, he isn’t a grom anymore. The clip showed that the 34-year-old needs his rest in between surfs. To lift the grom spirit in him, he brought along 13-year-old shredders Dylan Wilcoxen and Kalani Hammer. The young frothers looked to of been putting in more hours in the water than Mason.
I’m sorry, Mase, but Clay’s approach narrowly takes the win in this clip. However, both surfers put on their own brilliant and unique barrel-riding masterclass.
