Bodies found down a well in Northern Mexico are believed to be two Perth brothers and an American friend who went missing while on a surf trip last week.
Siblings Callum and Jake Robinson were travelling with their friend Jack Carter Rhoad. The trio was reported missing after they failed to check into their accommodation near Ensenada last weekend.
Authorities say the bodies, believed to be the trio, were likely murdered with gunshots to the head after they fought back against people who were trying to opportunistically steal their ute’s from a remote campsite.
‘All three bodies meet the characteristics to assume with a high degree of probability that they are the American Carter Rhoad as well as the Robinson brothers from Australia,’ said the state’s attorney general, Maria Elena Andrade.
Officials are waiting for the DNA results from the bodies and the parents of the Robinson brothers are understood to be on their way to Mexico to identify the bodies.
Three Mexicans have since been arrested and charged with forced kidnapping.
