The “Art of surfing’s” winners and commendations gallery |
The Rhema Art of surfing exhibition was held at the Gold Coast’s “Surf World” museum in early September. On display were works of art from all walks of life and what better canvas than a surfboard?
“we all know that surf-riding and the manufacture of surfboards is itself an art form and since surfing began, the craftsman and or manufacturer has always expressed himself by creating some sort of artwork on his board which expresses his connection with the ocean and the world
around him”, explains event organiser and entrant Jon Liebetanz.
Over 300 people and a virtual who’s who of surfing were on hand to checkout and celebrate the artworks of the 60 entrants that were placed into six different categories; Non industry, schools, retro, best glass job and most innovative shape.
