FREE ‘Mondayitis’ WALLPAPER: The ASP announced today that Fiji is back on the World Tour menu for 2012. This is huge news for those goofy-footers on tour who’ve been slugging it out on their backhand over the past three years without the respite of a specialist frontside break on the schedule. History shows that events at Snapper Rocks and Jeffery’s Bay do favour the natural footers. Natural Jordy Smith won this year’s event for the second year running. Tahiti’s magnificent Teahupoo, the location of the next event on the calendar [Billabong Pro Tahiti], does not offer an advantage to the goofys despite it being a hollow left – Andy Irons (RIP) won it for the second time last year and Kelly Slater has won it three times… the wave loved by those that have the bum drag backhand barrel down pat (tally stands around 50/50). But when you look at the history of Cloudbreak and Restaurants run WT events the goofys have it – Damo Hobgood (x2), Luke Egan and Occy all past winners. It’s this reason Tracks is proud to present this epic shot of Rob Machado at Pipeline. There’s not been a right foot forward world champion since CJ Hobgood won the shortened tour title in 2001. Could 2012 be your time to rise? Owen Wright? Ace Buchan? Jadson Andre?
