This vision hit the VHS rack of your local surf shop some time in 1996. Long before Teahupoo was part of the surfing vocabulary. It comes from the film Quiksilver Country by the talented cinematographers Don King and Jeff Hornbaker, and courtesy of Matt Warshaw’s Encyclopedia of Surfing. One has to wonder what Kelly and Tom thought when they gazed on the wave for the first time, and if they had to sign a blood oath of secrecy after surfing it.
