Dylan Longbottom made a name for himself as a free surfer of note during the early 00s, beginning with a progressive act that in the end gravitated toward charging during some of the heaviest sessions of the last decade.
He’ll still pop up in the lineup if the call to charge is there, but these days you’ll mostly find him shaping boards for some of the best big wave surfers on the planet, including Laurie Towner, Lucas ‘Chumbo’ Chianca and Matahi Dollet.
It’s Dyl’s firsthand knowledge of the intense situations these surfers face that makes him the man they can trust to craft their boards.
Here Dylan sit’s down for ’10 in the Bay’ with Shapers and gives us an insight into everything from early days shaping to his notorious Nazare wipeout.
