Flotsam is a surf film and photography celebration aiming to explore the creative side of surf culture. In its second year, the event kicks off next Monday and will run for two weeks (May 1 -14) with a stacked schedule for film and surf lovers. Tracks has jumped on board as a supporter of the festival with a few of our long-time collaborators such as Simon ‘Shagga’ Saffigna and Peter ‘Joli’ Wilson hosting workshops too.
Whether you’re an up-and-coming photographer who wants to learn more about the craft, a passionate surfer or just curious about an artist’s creative process- There’s an abundance of workshops, exhibitions and flicks for your curiosity and entertainment.
Flotsam aims to support Gold Coast local surf filmmakers and photographic artists and their work, with a long-term goal to provide ongoing opportunities to retain artists in these fields. The festival was developed in response to the economic impact that COVID-19 restrictions had on the QLD border region of the southern Gold Coast.
There will be free and ticketed pop up events in Burleigh, Palm Beach, Currumbin, Tugun, Kirra and Coolangatta.. Below are some of the surf- focused events:
2 May:- Talk Story: Ted Grambeau’s Waves of Consequence
