Two days ago legendary Tracks photographer Peter ‘Joli’ Wilson and a host of top 45 stumbled across this new break just a few minutes boat ride from the sometimes colossus, Teahupoo.
With the contest on hold the crew tripped over their collective tongues when they discovered this Pipeline like nugget not far from the sad sight of two-foot Chopes.
As Joli’s postcard from the Pacific explains, “The word is out about a new reef pass surfable on Teahupoo’s flat days. Check out these shots (Josh Kerr pictured) from the break that’s just a short boat ride away from tiny Teahupoo! I had two sessions at this wave yesterday and it was crazy. It was the best session I have shot in Tahiti this year. Who, would have known?”
Who indeed, Joli? Makes you wonder how many times passing boats have over looked this little Pipeline? Shit, there’s even shots of guys going a Backdoor like right off it? Lesson here; remember to scratch … and sniff. Sometimes sniffing just isn’t enough.
Note: In no way are we claiming this is the first time this wave has been surfed. But, for these blow-ins – it certainly was the first. Bonjour.
