In 1999, the ASP World Tour was dismantled by one of the most unique backhand attacks that surfing has ever seen. The flow and repertoire provided the key for Mark Occhilupo to win the world title.
His performance that year was documented in Jack McCoy’s “Occy: The Occumentary”. To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the award winning film, Jack and Occy are taking the film on tour across the east coast of Australia.
It will be the first time ever the film has been shown in cinemas on the big screen and to commemorate the event, Jack has remastered the film to give it a complete new look.
Throughout the tour, the pair will be hosting a Q&A at each stop and are bringing special guests along with them to help tell stories that relate to the film.
‘I’ve spent hundreds of hours blowing up the film from its original VHS release as a 4:3 aspect, to 16.9 widescreen. When I watched it back for the first time it was like watching a whole new movie, people’s minds are going to be blown.
‘Occy managed to do what many believed was the impossible. It’s truly one of the most inspirational and motivational stories in the history of Australian sport,’ said Jack.
