Swinging left at Off The Wall on Oahu’s North Shore may not be on the same level as going left at Waimea Bay, but it’s still a rarity. A predominately right-hand breaking semi-close out, Off The Wall is situated a stones throw from Backdoor Pipeline. In the seventies few went right at Pipe, even fewer ventured down another notch in the reef to surf Off The Wall – good reason being a large number of the set waves on any given day would in fact close out, or at the very lease, mutate into something far from perfect.
The art of surfing Off The Wall is as much about picking the right ones to go, as it is threading the barrel. On smaller days, that theory applies more to which waves will allow you to attack them with rail surfing… this unidentified goofy seems to have the latter well and truly sorted.
