Yesterday at 5:38PM Andrew “Moondog’ Mooney was towed into this green, creature from the deep, at Cape Solander. The Cape, now better known the world over as Ours, loves a solid easterly swell. Crossing the shipping lane of Botany Bay the waves heave up and then grind along the shelf at Ours just metres from the rocks… this wave is not to be taken lightly. Dropped by his major sponsor last year Moondog story now involves working on trains replacing damaged vinyl on trains. His ride here at Ours came about due to patience, “Yeah, that, and luck,” He told Tracks. “Luckily when I asked for the day off I got my boss in good mood.” It certainly looked like it was all worth it was our response. “That wave was a good one… Dom [Damian Wills] towed me into it, there were guys paddling but it was really hard to get into them. I didn’t even think this wave would do anything, but Dom eyeballed it and the closer we got to it the more it looked like a goer.” Was it all time out there we ask? “Hippo [Ryan Hippwood] reckons he got the best wave of his life yesterday… there were long waits, but yes, when they came, they were mental.”
