Kelly at Backdoor thirty years on. This was an early heat and I was being quite strategic about this as well. I was right down at Off The Wall because all the other photographers were down towards Pipe and I liked that angle looking back towards Pipe. I’m trying to shoot it a bit differently, like as low as I can get to the water line without too much foreground water getting in the way. I knew Kelly would go out at Backdoor and go any monster that came his way. You’ve just got that cool, Kelly style with a fantastic Backdoor barrel. I think I first shot him in Hawaii in 1992, so it’s thirty years late
