Think you can lay it on rail like Michael Peterson? Want your cutback judged by some of the best surfers in the world? Now is your chance as the MP Classic Cutback Comp is underway.
Running until 24 September, Simon ‘Shagga’ Saffigna and Daniel Carmichael have come together to create the MP Classic Cutback Comp, which will run on Instagram, where entrants will be judged on their best version of the turn by some of the biggest legends in surfing – Mick Fanning, Joel Parkinson, Dean Morrison, Steph Gilmore, Tom Curren and Occy.
The first week of submissions have been compiled into the Youtube edit above and the level of competition is high with many surfers showing degrees of speed, power and style. For us, SwellShotz’ clip of Taylor Knox takes the cake for week one.
Anyone is welcome to enter, including both filmers and surfers. All you have to do is post a video of your best cutback using the hashtag ‘#mpccc24’ and mention and follow @only_one_mp. Surfers and filmers can submit as many clips as they like and there will be a number of prizes for the winning surfer and filmer, including a replica of the board Michael rode in that iconic shot and various other memorabilia.
