Few would consider themselves as unlucky as Luke Dujic over the past four years. Between 2021 and the end of 2024 he spent a total of 25 months out of the water through various injuries. The 21-year-old from Avalon on Sydney’s Northern Beaches was forced to put the majority of his surfing and social life on hold for a large part of his teenage years.
“I couldn’t surf or socialise during various parts of my recovery. I couldn’t work and I found myself at home watching TV, stuck in my own head. There was a period where I didn’t even want to go outside, I isolated myself from a lot of my friends as they were all surfing and I wasn’t able to,” he told Tracks at the end of last year.
However, since overcoming multiple ankle injuries and an eye problem, Luke has managed to clock up more water time in 2025 than he had done for the previous four years. A large portion of his surfing this year was done during a two month stint in Indo where he made use of the variety of setups Krui has to offer.
It’s clear Luke is determined not to let his injury history stunt his progress and his latest edit ‘Timeout’ shows he is nifty at threading his way through the tube, and can lay his red Tokoro’s on rail.
