WATCH: THE DAY BEFORE AT TEAHUPO’O WITH NATHAN FLORENCE

The calm before the storm.

By now we’ve all seen the mayhem that occurred on the Friday the 13th swell at Teahupoo. Ungodly pieces of water, not meant to be ridden by man but somehow were, erupting over one of the heaviest reefs in the surfing world. It was a scene straight out of a surfing Hell for most mere mortals.

The day before however, that was a different story. More of a surfing Eden, with gin clear tubes perfectly running over the top of a stunning coral reef, Tahiti’s picturesque mountains providing a storybook backdrop.

Here Nate Florence takes you there, stuffing a GoPro in his chops, and capturing a dreamy session while trying to rid the body of anxiety about what tomorrow would bring.

Note: you might want to skip to the 10-minute mark to get straight into the action.
