By this point, you could call Dylan Graves ‘surfing’s answer to Bear Grylls’. The formula for his entertaining YouTube channel is simple – travel to the most absurd corners of earth where surfing shouldn’t exist, but it does. Link up with the nutters that brave the elements in these places, score waves and talk story with them.
His latest episode sees him travel to Norway where he links up with Tim Latte to score waves during Winter in the Artic Circle. Three hour days, freezing conditions (-15 degrees) and reindeer’s heart for a pre surf snack isn’t exactly everyone’s usual idea of a strike mission.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been colder. That was the closest I’ve ever been to Frostbite,” said Dylan.
Despite the insane conditions and the harsh reality of likely getting skunked, rather than scoring. The locals don’t seem to mind it.

“When there’s only three hours of daylight a day, you feel like you have to be outside,” said one surfer.
“If I miss it, it can ruin my whole week. If you can surf in those three hours, that’s great. It’s like stretching out the day.”
