Surfing and camping go hand in hand. They both embody elements of escapism, freedom and allow us to disconnect from reality for a period of time. They also work together in that camping and heading off the beaten path allows you to explore uncrowded waves.
Some of Australia’s hottest surfing talent were given the chance to do exactly that in a new adventure series, created by Surfing Australia and Dometic, which is being led by former CT surfer Owen Wright.
The six part series sees two surfers from each boardriders club that made the 2024 ABB Grand Final held at Burleigh earlier this year take time away from their competitive schedules to explore the country’s vast coastline in search of uncrowded waves.
Surfers from Burleigh Heads Boardriders, North Shelly Boardriders, Le-Ba Boardriders and North Shore Boardriders will compete in challenges throughout the series in order to win prizes for their respective clubs.

Commenting on the series, Owen, former Olympic bronze medalist, said: “The Dometic Adventure with O is about more than just the surfing—it’s about exploring, pushing limits, and taking these up-and-coming surfers out of their comfort zones. Watching how they adapt to new surroundings and challenges is what makes this series so unique.”
The surfers competing in the series are: Isla Huppatz, Maddy Job, Macy Callaghan, Joel Vaughan, Nyxie Ryan, Harry O’Brien, Holly Williams and Alister Reginato.
