Ryan Callinan has had an eventful few weeks. After splitting with his long term sponsor Billabong months ago, it was announced last week that he had signed an equity deal with Julian Wilson’s Rivvia Projects and come on as a team rider and part owner.
The news came after the release of R Cal’s latest edit ‘Ripples in the Void’, which was essentially a sponsor me tape featuring footage from the past two years while the Newcastle-born goofy footer was competing on the CT. The edit was originally behind a pay wall but has now been released on YouTube for free.
After watching the edit, you may find yourself baffled as to why Callinan went months without a sticker on the nose of his board. His forehand rail game is smooth yet aggressive, he’s so comfortable in big barrels at places like Fiji and Chopes and he’s been a staple on the CT for almost 10 years.
