Oscar Langburne’s 2025 has had multiple faces. After signing with Rip Curl at the start of the year, the stylish goofy-footer hoped to go on The Search with Mick Fanning and Mason Ho. But after tearing his meniscus playing tennis and then being hit with a bout of Dengue Fever, he found himself spiraling mentally. That headspace formed the title for his latest edit ‘Ever Changing Moods’, filmed and edited by Harry Dott, which is made up of footage from the back half of the year when Oscar returned to the water with a stint in Indo.
Despite an extended period of time out the water, Oscar still uses surfing as an outlet for escapism.
“To me it’s about the journey, finding waves and having a good time, just loving it for what is it. It’s definitely not about all the other bullshit involved. Surfing was almost like a punk thing, it was a rebellious thing. It wasn’t about conforming to society, it was about rebelling and escaping. It was a form of escapism, that’s how I look at it and all those videos like The Endless Summer. I’m sure it’s an escape for everyone, but it seems like an escape to let out anger onto other people rather than getting out of your own head and taking a step back.”
