There are three certainties in life; death, taxes and the price of wax going up each year. Morgan Cibilic finds this out the hard way in his new edit ‘Shrapnel’ when three bucks only gets him a quarter of a bar of Fu Wax. Despite spending the last of his money on wax, Morgs’ good friend Liam O’Brien lends him a few extra pennies which helps get him to J-Bay where he proceeds to tear the South African right hand walls apart.
Morgs’ short surf film, put together by Nick Colclough, is a mash up of clips from the past two years during his travels on the Challenger Series and includes waves from the Gold Coast, South Africa, Hawaii and more.
What is evident throughout the ten minute edit is that Morgan has got all the tools in his locker to make it back onto the CT. The Australian finished fifth during his rookie year on tour, but then in 2022 he finished 29th and was cut during the half way mark. He has been on the Challenger ever since and has narrowly missed out on requalification multiple times.
We hope Morgs can make the jump back up in 2025. But in the meantime, click the link above to watch some of his best moments from the past two years.
