Watch: ‘Many Wonders’ – Arctic Action and Arthouse script

Quirky, short film aesthetics, frigid action, and some of the best surfing backdrops you've ever seen.

In many ways, the arctic circle is a filmmaker’s dream. Snow-capped mountains and capricious flashes of brilliant, green light make for heady backdrops; particularly when the surfing goes down on reeling points and thumping A-frame peaks. However, there is obviously a lot of downtime when surfing is simply out of the question. The directing team, Ben Weiland and Elli Thor Magnusson, obviously decided to get a little quirky while waiting for the waves to break. Eithan Osborne, Josh Moniz, Becca Speak, and Luana Silva play their parts well, but the starring role goes to a bearded local and his white Samoyed dog. This one won’t have you mind-surfing from the get-go but the action is worth the wait and the comical, art-house approach warrants consideration.
