“I’m passionate about spreading the message that girls can get pitted too,” said Lilliana Bowrey after she sent through an image to the Tracks inbox of her slotted deep in a Super Suck drainer in Indo last year.
Not only does Lilliana talk the talk, she walks the walk too. The elegant goofy-footer has just released a new edit titled ‘Short N’ Sweet’, shot by her partner Elliot Paerata Reid, during the couple’s recent time spent in Indo. Included in the eight minute clip is a section where Lilliana proceeds to stuff herself deep in a number of forehand tubes.
As well as substance, her surfing is full of style too. Her father Jake Bowrey, alongside Thomas Bexon, started Thomas surfboards when Lilliana was five-years-old. This gave her the opportunity to grow up riding a variety of traditional and alternative craft, which will have had an influence on her graceful style that is evident throughout the edit.
Here’s the synopsis for the film: “This short surf film was born out of the desire to create a fun, artful and engaging piece based on exploring the islands of Indo and simply ‘sending it’ as a young female surfer. In this film Lilliana partners up with Elliot Paerata Reid and Billabong Womens Australia to focus her energy on storytelling and sharing the gift of surfing with the world with the hope to inspire the younger generation to get on a board, no matter the size.”
