In pro-surfing’s glory days, prodigies such as Bruce Irons and Jack Robinson were living large from a young age. It’s certainly not the case these days, with lucrative contracts even tough for those competing on the Championship Tour.
It’s uncommon for the new generation of aspiring pro-surfers, such as Jordy Liackman, to have a luxurious lifestyle as they travel the world to get clips. Nowadays, Jordy and those pursuing a career in pro-surfing have to show initiative and endure undesirable travel conditions , such as 30-hour bus rides, 10-hour boat trips, and sleeping on wooden floors (like the rest of us).
These circumstances didn’t bother Jordy, who still got to the Mentawai Islands and his new favourite wave, Lakey Point in one piece. Jordy made the most of his time in Indo, showcasing his well-rounded and high-level surfing throughout the clip and fearlessly attacking each section like he knew how much each wave cost.
Enjoy!
