With the arrival of C-19, everyone had to adapt. In some way or another, you were affected, and the surf world was no different. Events got cancelled, the World Tour got cancelled, and C-19 made it near impossible to host a life surfing contest. The Vans Triple Crown of surfing organisers opted for a digital surf competition instead of withdrawing for the year. Surfers would have a month to get two waves from Haleiwa, Pipeline and Sunset and submit them – digitally. This was a completely new format, only put forward due to the wrath of COVID. It turns out the new digital format was quite successful, and Vans have opted to re-use the format for this year’s triple crown.
Here is John John’s winning submission from last year. He will be tough to beat again this year.
