WATCH: Jai Glindeman on signing with JS & breaking Parko’s golden child

JS' latest series features profile pieces on its surfers.

You can draw a number of similarities between the surfing of Jai Glindeman and former World Champ Joel Parkinson. The most obvious comparison being their ability to smoothly and seamlessly lay a board on rail. Put Jai on one of Parko’s old JS blades which rode him to victory at Bells, J-Bay and Kirra and the similarities are uncanny.

Unfortunately, after being gifted the original Golden Child board by Jason Stevenson and riding it across the world, Jai eventually snapped it while in Sumbawa.

This storyline forms one part of the first episode of JS’ new YouTube series ‘Far & Wide’ which profiles the surfers on its team.

The description reads:

“To begin the series, we started in our backyard. Jai Glindeman was a natural fit to join the team for many reasons – starting with his power surfing pedigree, honed on another classic righthand point just down the road from our factory.

“Before working with JS, Glindo had never spent much time in a surfboard factory, let alone seeing designs through from initial design, to the shaping bay and eventually his own garage. It made sense that the first traktor he rode and fell in love with was Parko’s original Golden Child, which he rode to win 3 CT events back in 2009 from Kirra to Bells and JBay.

“Jai’s first quiver from Jason was a batch of Golden Child shortboards, which perfectly complemented his style and approach. From there, he added in a few Big Horses to ride as step-ups from the bigger days at home to Hawaii & Indo, some Monsta 10 shortboards, and eventually twin fins like the Big Baron.

“For one of the world’s most watchable rising stars, Glindo was well overdue to be profiled in his hometown. Enjoy Far & Wide with Jai in Lennox Head, NSW.”
