Whether you love him or hate him, there is no denying Jacob ‘Zeke’ Szekely’s influence on the intersection of surfing, skating, wave pools and content creation. Behind the polarising persona lies a troubled past, a skateboarding mindset and a wave pool obsession that have helped Jacob ‘Zeke’ Szekely carve out one of surfing’s most unconventional careers.
That career took an even more unconventional Zeke-esque turn earlier this year when he announced that he’d joined Only Fans. While the platform is widely known for its X-rated content, Zeke said there are no immediate plans to create a porno. Instead, he uses the paywall to offer behind the scenes surf content and added extras you can’t find on his YouTube.
“They’ve given me a base salary to create whatever I want – surf projects, podcasts, behind-the-scenes content, the lot.”
Part of that money has already been reinvested into the next generation. Recently, he funded a trip to Mexico for two unsponsored Californian groms while filming a new project.
“It’s pretty cool to see them come in and support us athletes. It’s hard to get backing in the traditional surf industry and this shit ain’t cheap, travelling 12 months of the year, doing strike missions and filming content.”
