South Africa is home to a number of world class surfers and world class waves. Spearheaded by WSL CT veteran Jordy Smith, the country also counts the likes of Mikey Feb, Matty McGillivray, Luke Thompson, Luke Sljipen and Eli Beukes as some of its finest surfing talent.
Jordy has been competing on the World Tour for almost two decades. More recently he has been joined by fellow countrymen Mikey and Matty in surfing’s big league. In the early stages of his career he also competed alongside fellow Saffers Travis Logie and Ricky Basnett.
Big bru will now be joined by Luke Thompson for the 2026 season after the 21-year-old punched his ticket to the CT during the final leg of the Challenger Series in Newcastle earlier this week.
In the meantime you can catch a glimpse of some of South Africa’s best in Jordy’s latest YouTube edit ‘Ice Cold Barrels in Cape Town’. Jordy is on a roll on YouTube at the moment, consistently posting banger content from in and around his home.
