As we edge closer to the premier date of Snapt 5, creator Logan Dulien continues to tease us with a number of ‘B-Side’ edits to get our surf senses tingling. So far we’ve had Clay Marzo at Desert Point, Asher Pacey in Mexico, Noa Deane’s aerial antics and now we’ve been blessed with Ian Crane’s ‘Snapt 5 Bali B-Sides’.
Considering the quality of each edit, and the fact these clips are considered surplus to requirements, you can only begin to imagine the type of surfing we’re going to see in the final movie which is due to premiere on 2 August at Huntington Beach during the US Open of Surfing. With an Australia tour of the film to follow in September.
In addition to Ian, the movie is set to feature parts from the likes of Mason Ho, Harry Bryant, Noa Deane, Jack Robinson, Taro Watanabe, Parker Coffin, Clay Marzo, Asher Pacey and more. For the first time there will also be a dedicated grom section.

As for Crane, this will be the third time his extended aerial repertoire, tight backhand whips and technical surfing have featured in the ‘Snapt’ series. The movie’s have proved to be a staple in surf culture and have helped elevate the career’s of a number of free surfer’s including Ian’s.
Given the hype around each movie, it may puzzle some as to why this will be the last in the Snapt series. But for Logan, each one has achieved exactly what it set out to.
“Having these guys put away their best clips for a couple of years is such a huge ask in the social media age, especially when there is so much pressure from sponsors to be getting a certain amount of clicks and views. I put together Snapt for the love of surfing and I want to leave it all out on the court for this final film. I want to help these guys as much as I can and work hard to produce the best movie possible. I want to leave behind something special and I know that the longevity of these films will surpass any YouTube vlog or Instagram clip.”
For those in the US, you can purchase tickets to the world premiere here.
