What can you expect as a surfer on a trip to Ireland? Lots of slabs, pints of Guinness and plenty of good craic. Aussies Russ Bierke and Sean Mawson scored them in abundance when they linked up with local legend Conor Maguire to spend an extensive period hunting waves on the Celtic Coast.
The result forms Ocean & Earth’s latest edit ‘Good Craic’ which sees the trio charge a number of the country’s heaviest waves.
“On this last trip, we had a handful of good days over two months, but also had two weeks where we couldn’t even get in the water. But when the payoff happens, and you score world-class waves, it is so worth it. It’s such a challenge and, so you get a great sense of achievement. You’re battling the elements, not the crowds,” said Russ, who is no stranger to the ‘score at all costs’ approach.
