Tracks editor Luke Kennedy recently wrote ‘There’s a fine time to be had in Ireland if you travel with an open mind,’ after chasing waves up and down the Celtic Coast for the first time. Pair that forward thinking with a set of cojones and you’re guaranteed to score, especially during an Atlantic winter.
As with every wave rich zone, Ireland comes with a set of hard charging locals who aren’t afraid of the cold or some heavy water. One of the standouts in recent years is Gearoid Mcdaid, the 29-year-old goofy footer has spent a number of years competing on the QS and also has an ISA European title to his name. However, its his ability to stuff himself deep inside XL caverns at places like Mullaghmore and Riley’s that has made him standout in recent times.
His latest YouTube offering sees him take on a local slab with friends Noah Lane, Louis Thomas Hudson and Arran Strong.
“A single surf super session that went down recently, one of those days that is just pumping for hours on end. So fun getting sessions like this with just some of my best friends in the water,” he wrote.
