In the current surf industry, where personalities are often dumbed down and people are shoe horned to fit into a particular box in order to please the suit and tie’s that are paying the bills, unique personas can be hard to come by. However, one particular character who is anything but a ‘yes’ man is underground North Shore charger Lucas Godfrey aka Skywalka.
His latest edit ‘Fear the machine’ is very much reflective of his mindset. “Fear the machine, and then take the vial,” he says in the 14 minute surf flick. What that exactly means is up for debate, but given his enthusiasm for conspiracy theories, we can all take a good guess.
Alongside the creative skits in the short film is some seriously high grade surfing in heavy water. Lucas has dedicated years to mastering his craft at Pipeline and that is evident throughout. The 30-year-old ding repair man also scores a number of other waves across Indo and Mexico in the edit.
