It’s been a wave starved winter for those down in Victoria, with no significant swells of note lighting up the surf coast for some time.
However, just as winter came to a close last week in Australia and Spring began to show its face, Victoria was blessed with a pulsing southerly swell and howling offshore winds which created picturesque lines for as far as the eye could see, the type you would draw in your school book as a kid.
The peak of the swell happened to be on Sunday, which was also Father’s Day. Had many of the grommies known, they could’ve saved themselves a trip to Bunnings with mum earlier in the week to buy Dad the latest shiny tool and instead offered them a free pass to surf Bells or Winky all day.
As well as the hard charging dad’s who commanded the lineup on bigger boards, taking off way out the back. There was also a crew of CS rippers such as Jacob Willcox and George Pittar on hand to tear into the Bells bowl.
