“He wants to be everywhere, doing everything, all at once,” said Dane Reynolds when asked about Eithan Osborne’s personality.
Eithan’s new film ‘Skinny Meat Head’ takes a deeper dive into his divided persona and constant battle between being one of the most talented and raw freesurfers in the world who is capable of stomping every air he goes for and puts out world class clips and edits, or an inconsistent competitor whose style often means he either puts together 10s or 2s.
Given the calibre of surfing in this edit and Osborne’s cameos in recent projects such as Harry Bryant’s Motel Hell, there’s no doubt he is one of the best free surfers in the world. But in Skinny Meat Head, Eithan reveals this continuous burning desire to quality for the World Tour.
Some would argue, he is exactly what the CT needs. A raw, uncut and full throttle approach, with the personality to match, is a lot more entertaining that the robot who does the same three to the beach every wave.
In the description for the video, which was uploaded to Dane’s Chapter 11 TV, he wrote:
“Matt and I were driving south from San Francisco when he said out of nowhere ‘Eithan’s kinda like a… Skinny Meat Head.’ And not only was it funny, it was a brilliant description. Eithan’s got a lot of angst and muscle packed in that tiny little frame. Erratic and un-calculated, he’s full throttle at all times. It pours into his surfing. Gritty aggression always on the edge of going off the rails but sticking it more often than not.
“We followed Eithan around the globe to document surf trips and the challenge of balancing free surfing with the ups and downs of trying to achieve his dream of qualifying for the WSL Championship tour.”
