WATCH: “BEST PADDLE SESSION AT JAWS IN YEARS”

Surfing’s undertaker awoke from its sleep.

Reading Time: 1 minute

With the Eddie Aikau being called off, a stacked crew of the big-wave elite travelled from the North Shore to Maui to get in their adrenalin fix. Jaws was roaring yesterday and had everyone on social media going nuts.

An injured Billy Kemper and Albee Layer lead a pack into battle with arguably the scariest wave on the planet. Billy reportedly tore his MCL three weeks ago but couldn’t help himself and paddle into one of the biggest sets of the day. It doesn’t matter the circumstance. Billy’s got to show the world he’s the boss out there. His physio was having a panic attack, while the Hawaiian sees it as his duty.

Big respect to Albee Layer, who successfully rode the best tube in the session. Albee continues to make us shake our heads with his radical approach. Torrey Meister somehow makes surfing a life-threatening wave a graceful activity. While Paige Alms took on some mental ones and copped a serious wipeout (5 min 20s mark). I suspect that she’d be extremely sore today.

Enjoy the highlights of the biggest barrels and gnarliest wipeouts from the land and the sky from yesterday’s session! Videographer Tucker Wooding doesn’t miss when it comes to production.
