‘Apricity’ means the warmth of the sun in the winter, a feeling many of us can relate to if you’ve ever spent a length of time in frigid conditions. It’s a rare moment when the sun peeks out from behind the darkness of the winter clouds and provides an extra sense of warmth given the surrounding temperature. This was the exact type of feeling that filmmaker Morgan Maasen tried to convey in his latest cinematic masterpiece which follows Swiss snowboarder Daria Fuchs from the slopes of the Alps to the Mentawai’s where she shows her versatile board riding skills.
Here’s what Morgan had to say about the film:
“I aimed to capture a visual odyssey of Daria’s board riding, following her incredible adventures from the dark depths of the Swiss winter to the balmy waves of Indian Ocean. Hunting for the best powder on those dark, freezing days in the Alps rewarded us with clean lines, and those moments of warmth from the sun peeking into the valleys and filtering through the trees gives such a beauty and emotion to the most challenging of elements.”
