Tracks party Tour Easter double header goes off in Torquay and Sydney

Highlights from our two sold out shows across the Easter weekend.
Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Easter weekend will go down in Tracks history as we threw two of our biggest and best parties yet. Hundreds gathered in Torquay and Sydney for a night of full throttle music, high energy and good vibes.

While we’ve got a reputation for throwing a good party down in Torquay while the CT is in town for the Bells event, this surpassed everyone’s expectations. Over 600 attended the Torquay Surf Lifesaving Club for our sold out show. People were quite literally climbing the fences to try and get in. DJ Eddy and Pisco Sour kicked things off for us and the Casa’s were flowing at the bar. Bakers Eddy turned the young crowd into a frenzy with their roaring punk anthems and headliners Rum Jungle kept us grooving long into the night.

We then dashed back to Sydney for another sold out show at the Harbord Hotel in Freshwater. Ah Honey opened things up and the much anticipated Headsend turned things up a notch with their grunge and metal bangers. Host Jed Smith invited local legend Tom Myers on stage to talk about the wave of his life he caught at Queenscliff Bombie a couple days prior. Surf punk legends The Good Kids turned the room into complete chaos as punters stage dived and crowd surfed on a foamie. Rum Jungle then capped off the show and had the crowd screaming for ‘one more song’ at the end of the night.

Our attention now turns to our next Tracks Party at the Coolangatta Hotel on the Gold Coast on Friday 9 May when the CT comes to town. Rum Jungle will headline the night once again and they’ll be supported by Letter to Lion, Headsend and Mid Drift. Purchase tickets here.

There will be heaps of giveaways from our partners including a Burzerk e-bike worth almost $4,000. Anyone who buys a ticket to any stop on the tour will be automatically entered into a draw for a chance to win.

Tracks Parties are powered by CASARip CurlYetiBurzerkSurfers for Climate Ain’t That Swell.

Seven free surfers embarked on a voyage to boldly go where no man had gone before.

Not that long ago, in an island chain far, far away, seven free surfers embarked on a voyage to boldly go where no man had gone before. Equipped with an array of surfboards, a packet of crayons and two ukuleles, their chances of success were slim. In pursuit of perfection, they were forced to navigate under the radar of a fleet of imperial boat charters. Despite numerous obstacles, the rebel alliance of wave-riding beatniks continued to make Galactik Tracks into a new surfing cosmos; their search for a Nirvana reaching its climax when they arrived at… The Island of Nowhere.

YEAR: 2014
STARRING: DAVE RASTOVICH

The film features the enigmatic and free-thinking Dave Rastovich at home on the Far North Coast of NSW.

Gathering is a short film from independent filmmaker Nathan Oldfield, the creator of the award-winning left of centre surf films Lines From a Poem, Seaworthy and The Heart & The Sea. The film features the enigmatic and free-thinking Dave Rastovich at home in the sacred playgrounds of the Far North Coast of New South Wales. The film explores Rastovich’s ideas around how the tension between the industrial and the natural in the surfing world unfolds in that place. Ultimately, Gathering celebrates how diversity and difference in ecosystems, relationships and surfing contribute to the preciousness of life. Gathering is easy on the eyes and ears and Tracks Magazine is proud to present it to you. Nathan Oldfield is a maverick, a filmmaker who wants a surf movie to say something important, to move us and make us grateful for the sea around us and the life within us. His films are quiet, beautiful and brimming with sacred purpose. Tim Winton, Acclaimed Australian Novelist
