Two people have been left in hospital in critical condition after three shark attacks occurred in Sydney over the past two days.
A man was rushed to hospital in critical condition after he was attacked and bitten on the leg at North Steyne, in Manly, on the city’s Northern Beaches at about 6.20pm on Monday.
The incident happened just hours after a young surfer’s board had a chunk bitten out of it at Dee Why, and on Sunday a young boy was left fighting for his life after being attacked at a Sydney Harbour beach.
Given the recent extensive heavy rainfall in Sydney, which can lead to increased shark activity, it’d be wise to avoid the ocean for now.
A number of beaches in Northern Sydney have been closed until further notice. Our thoughts are with both of the victims and their families at this time.
We will continue to provide updates when we can.
