With just days left in SurfAid’s ‘Make A Wave’ Challenge – where participants surf daily for 30 days straight – the charity is hoping to hit the $1million milestone to support families living beside remote waves who struggle to access basic services.
This year the initiative has seen over 1,700 surfers take part from 23 countries. If the charity can reach $1 million, it would be its biggest result since launching the challenge in 2020.
Money raised from the challenge is given to families in remote surf communities who face challenges accessing clean water, healthcare and nutritious food.
“Reaching $1 million in fundraising is an incredible moment for Make A Wave and for surfing. It’s a testament to the passion of our surfers and the generosity of their communities, and it means life-changing support for families in remote places connected to us through surfing,” said Laura Casaceli, SurfAid Marketing and Fundraising Director.
“What moves me most is not just the fundraising totals, but the stories behind them. Surfers are paddling out in all conditions across the globe and rallying their friends, families and communities to get behind them, it’s incredible.”
