Rhino Laminating, a glassing and surfboard manufacturer based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, was destroyed last week after a fire broke out at its factory in Brookvale. Two people were inside at the time of the incident but they managed to escape without any serious injuries. It remains unclear what caused the fire. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the business, run by Juan Twycross, get back on its feet again.
The business is responsible for glassing a number of boards in the area and also shapes for the likes of Panda Surfboards, Campbell Bros, Ryan Lovelace’s Love Machines and more.
The GoFundMe reads:
“Our dear friends Juan and Jessie recently experienced a devastating fire that destroyed their entire business Rhino Laminating—a business they spent years building from the ground up.
“In a matter of minutes, decades of tools, materials, custom boards, and irreplaceable projects were lost. The emotional and financial impact has been overwhelming.
“We’re starting this GoFundMe to help them get back on their feet and rebuild Rhino Laminating. Every contribution, no matter the size, will go directly toward replacing essential equipment, securing a new workspace, and providing crucial financial support while they navigate this difficult time.
“These are incredibly kind, generous people who have always shown up for others, and now it’s our turn to show up for them. Thank you for helping them rebuild, recover, and find stable footing again.”
